Al Rawabi’s Year Of Giving

Giving back to one’s community without expecting anything in return has always been a tradition in the UAE since its formation. That’s why 2017 was declared by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, as “The Year of Giving” to strengthen the ties of love and loyalty that bind Emirati people and expats to their country.

Al Rawabi has been an inextricable part of the traditions of UAE since its inception in 1989. We are proud of belonging to the Emirati community, and we embraced this year as the time to overlook personal needs for the needs of others, especially the poor and the disadvantaged.

At Al Rawabi, we believe that there is no exercise better for the health than reaching down and lifting people up.

UAE Food Bank

According to the Dubai Media Office, the UAE loses AED 13 billion each year in food waste. Al Rawabi is proud to partner with the UAE Food Bank, a pioneering initiative by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum to reduce food waste by distributing surplus food to the people who need it. During the occasion of Ramadan, Al Rawabi launched ‘No to Food Wastage’ - a social media campaign to promote the initiative and mark 2017 as the Year of Giving.

Dubai Autism Centre

The Dubai Autism Centre is a non-profit launched in 2001 whose primary goal is to integrate children living with autism into the community successfully. Al Rawabi is a proud supporter and advocate of the Centre’s activities which include annual awareness campaigns, outreach programs, institutional visits, intervention programs and support for local families with autistic children.

Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre

Al Rawabi Dairy, represented by our Chairman Abdallah Sultan Al Owais and CEO Dr Ahmed Eltigani, were honoured to support the Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre - a non-profit organisation which provides quality therapy and holistic education services to children with special needs. Through the donation of the needed means and resources, Al Rawabi will continue supporting the cause of children with special needs. As further commitment towards the responsibility we have in the community, we are privileged to successfully employ people with special needs at the company.

Grow Your Food Campaign

In line with our commitment to encourage fresh local produce, Al Rawabi participated in this year’s ‘Grow Your Food’ campaign in association with Dubai Municipality. The ‘Grow Your Food’ initiative aims to promote sustainable community farming by encouraging Dubai residents to cultivate vegetables and fruits in their homes. As part of this effort, Al Rawabi conducted Farm Workshops to teach citizens about organic gardening.

Deira Fish Market

As part of our promise towards the nation’s health, Al Rawabi was delighted to participate in the sampling initiative at the Deira Fish Market by Al Bayan Newspaper. Representatives of the company distributed bottles of Al Rawabi milk to the market workers, underscoring the importance of good health for all.

Dar Al Ber

In 2017, Al Rawabi partnered with Dar Al Ber Society to assist differently-abled pilgrims to travel to Saudi Arabia for Umrah. The goal of Dar Al Ber’s ‘Lifetime Umrah’ initiative is to provide organised pilgrimages that enable pilgrims from low-income segments to visit Makkah and perform Umrah.

Sharjah Chamber of Commerce

Al Rawabi aligned with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce to distribute free products to people in need.

Dubai Nutrition Conference

Al Rawabi Dairy Company was the Nutrition Supporter, and one of the leading sponsors, for the 3rd Edition of the Dubai Nutrition Conference organised by the Dubai Health Authority. The Conference took place at the InterContinental Hotel and covered a broad range of programs and workshops that were highly relevant to the MENA region. Not surprisingly, one of the most important topics was Vitamin D deficiency, given the fact that over 90% of the population suffers from the condition. To this purpose, we hosted for the second time Dr. Michael Hollick, a leading expert on Vitamin D deficiency who spoke about the issue during the Conference. Other important themes included issues relevant to the people’s lifestyle today like infant and maternal nutrition, community nutrition, obesity, as well as the proper diet.

Al Rawabi has also provided assistance to multiple institutions and initiatives throughout the year including support for Al Noor Charity for Children with Special Needs, spreading awareness on radiology, and supporting clinics & hospitals on the burning issue of Vitamin D deficiency through educational programs.

At Al Rawabi, giving is a commitment that lasts not for a year but a lifetime. As this year draws to a close, we will keep our promise to serve the nation’s health, and further continue to give back to those who need us the most.
